MACF Grant to Prairie Grit Adaptive Sports

The Minot Area Community Foundation has granted $6,000 to Prairie Grit Adaptive Sports in Minot to purchase a new Adaptive Golf Cart (paragolfer).

Prairie Grit provides sports opportunities for youth and adults living with physical and developmental disabilities in Minot and the surrounding area to enhance their quality of life. The organization offers a variety of activities and events year-round including a successful sledge hockey program. The para-golfer is unique in that it gives someone who is not normally physically fit to golf, the opportunity to get out on the golf course and play. It will allow Prairie Grit to further grow their golf program to include everyone regardless of their physical or development circumstances.

"Prairie Grit is very thankful to have the support from the Minot Area Community Foundation on this project to help our youth and adults living with disabilities enjoy the game of golf," said Drew Hanson, Fundraising Director for Prairie Grit. "We are very fortunate to have 2 of these adaptive golf carts housed at The Vardon Golf Club and we look forward to continuing our mission of providing these sporting opportunities to improve the quality of life for people with disabilities in and around the Minot community."

The Minot Area Community Foundation supported the purchase of the new adaptive golf cart with funding from the Ovid F. Boisjolie Fund, Chuck & Madge Westlie Fund, The Williamson Fund, and the Mike and Dorothy Dolan Fund.

"The Foundation is honored to support projects like these that bring a true benefit to our community. The para-golfer will be a great addition to the program Prairie Grit has already successfully established," said Ken Kitzman, President of the Minot Area Community Foundation.
