Minot Public Library Grant

Posted: Nov 01 2022

The Minot Area Community Foundation has granted $50,000 to the Minot Public Library for the remodel of their Children’s Library. The $50,000 grant was made possible through the generosity of The Williamson Fund and a Private Donor.

The Children’s Library remodel project will include the creation of an enclosed glass play area that will provide children with an area to play freely without disturbing other patrons of the library. This area will overlook the train tracks and include ample seating, climbing equipment, cushioned flooring, and a life-size tree!

According to the National Literacy Trust, play lays the foundation for literacy. Through play, children try out new vocabulary on their own or with friends and exercise their imagination through storytelling. This project will truly benefit the children and families that access the library by providing a space that combines all the elements of play and provides a strong foundation for early literacy development.
