MACF Grants Funds to Northern Pines Stables

Posted: Jun 04 2024

The Minot Area Community Foundation (MACF) has granted $3,000 to Northern Pines Stables. This grant was made possible through the Mike & Dorothy Dolan Fund.

Northern Pines Stables operates in Sawyer, ND and currently services around 180 clients with the most popular age group being ages 5-12. Riding lessons and educational camps for both kids and adults focus on horse education, horse care, as well as time spent on the facility’s horses for those who don’t own a horse.  Additionally, the lessons and camps offer physical and mental support to those who are searching for a therapeutic benefit.

Veronica Enander, Barn Manager at Northern Pines Stables states, “We are so extremely honored and grateful to have been selected by the Minot Area Community Foundation for a grant. Our lesson riding program is something we are proud to offer to Minot and the surrounding communities with our great set of lesson horses, staff, and beautiful location in Sawyer.”

Since the recent closure of a local equine program and the influx of new community members through the Minot Air Force Base, new clients are coming in every day. Facility & equipment updates are needed to accommodate new clients and offer additional riding lessons and educational camps. The grant will be used for riding tack, materials for new obstacles, educational tools, and safety equipment for riders.

“Various types of activities can provide physical and mental support to their participants. The use of horses is just another unique and proven method to provide opportunities to build confidence and skills as these individuals continue to grow and develop” said Jason Zimmerman, President of Minot Area Community Foundation.
