For the last 12 years, the Souris River Basin Longbeards have provided frozen turkeys to Minot and surrounding area Food Pantries for the Holiday season. This year is no different, but the cost to purchase frozen turkeys is higher than ever.
The Minot Area Community Foundation’s Arnold I. Besserud Fund granted The Longbeards $1,000 towards the purchase of frozen turkeys. Percy Ottmar, President of the Longbeards says “Each year the program has grown and last year over 700 frozen turkeys were distributed.”
Most of the turkeys are distributed through Community Action of Minot and will be distributed on December 19th of this year to Minot area food pantries.
