Minot Area Community Foundation Announces 2025 Donation Station Challenge Grant

Posted: Aug 29 2025

The Minot Area Community Foundation (MACF) is excited to announce the launch of its 8th Annual Donation Station Challenge Grant, benefitting local food pantries.
This year’s Challenge Grant is extra special as it coincides with MACF’s 25th Anniversary. In recognition of this milestone, the program has been simplified to maximize impact, removing most past stipulations and allowing more dollars to flow directly back into the community.

From September 1 through December 31, area organizations are invited to reserve the Donation Station for use during food drives. For every pound of food collected, MACF’s Arnold I. Besserud Fund will contribute $1 to the organization’s designated food pantry. Unlike previous years, there are no minimum or maximum collection requirements, making it easier than ever for groups to get involved.

The impact of this initiative has been significant:
  • In 2024, 12 organizations collected 15,223 pounds of food, resulting in $11,500 in grants to local pantries.
  • Since its launch in 2017, the Donation Station has gathered more than 85,394 pounds of food, with the Arnold I. Besserud Fund granting $38,500 back into the community.
“We’re looking forward to another successful year for the Donation Station Challenge Grant, especially as we celebrate MACF’s 25th Anniversary,” said Jason Zimmerman, MACF President. “This challenge grant is a reflection of Mr. Besserud’s legacy and his deep passion for supporting soup kitchens and food pantries. It’s a meaningful way to honor his generosity while addressing a critical community need.”
