MATCH MADNESS: PHASE ONE is complete!

The Minot Area Community Foundation proudly announces the successful completion of Phase One of its 25th Anniversary Match Madness campaign, raising just over $170,000 for local nonprofit endowment funds between April 15 and May 16, 2025.

The Match Madness Endowment Fund Challenge was designed to build long-term sustainability for nonprofits in the Minot region by encouraging donors to support participating organizations’ endowment funds. Each nonprofit that raised at least $5,000 from outside donors during the challenge received a $5,000 matching gift from MACF into their endowment fund.

“We are thrilled with the incredible community response to phase one of Match Madness,” said Jason Zimmerman, President of MACF. “These gifts will provide a lasting impact for our nonprofits, strengthening their ability to serve our region well into the future.”

A total of 12 organizations successfully met the challenge and received the $5,000 match: Dakota Hope Clinic, Domestic Violence Crisis Center, Local Motives, Magic City Discovery Center, Men’s Winter Refuge, Minot Catholic School Foundation, Minot Commission on Aging, Northern Plains Children’s Advocacy Center, Prairie Grit Adaptive Sports, Souris Valley United Way, The Difference – A Holistic Approach, and The Lord’s Cupboard.

Additionally, for those organizations that did not meet the $5,000 fundraising threshold, MACF made a surprise decision to still match all dollars raised on a dollar-for-dollar basis. These organizations include: F5 Project, Greater Minot Zoological Society, Minot Area Council of the Arts, and Minot Public School Foundation.

In total, participating organizations raised $106,844.64, and MACF provided an additional $64,189.85 in matching funds—bringing the grand total raised for nonprofit endowment funds during Phase One to $171,034.49.

“This effort was about more than just matching dollars—it was about building a culture of long-term giving,” added Zimmerman. “Thanks to our generous donors, the impact of these gifts will be felt for generations.”

MATCH MADNESS: PHASE TWO is unlocked!!

In early May, the Minot Area Community Foundation had the honor of attending the Rotary Club of Minot Scholarship Banquet — and delivering a truly meaningful surprise!

As part of our 25th Anniversary Match Madness campaign, MACF matched the Rotary Scholarship Foundation’s $25,000, doubling the scholarships for 25 incredible students. Each student believed they were receiving a $1,000 award — and instead walked away with $2,000 to support their continued education!

This match holds special significance for us. The founders of the Rotary Scholarship Fund were not only champions of youth and education — they were also instrumental in establishing the Minot Area Community Foundation back in 2000. Their early vision for community investment helped lay the foundation—both literally and figuratively—for the work we do today.

By matching this fund, we honor that legacy and celebrate the deep, lasting impact of community collaboration. It was a full-circle moment—one that brought our 25th Anniversary celebration back to the very roots of our foundation, recognizing those who helped launch MACF while investing in the next generation of local leaders.
