Executive Director / President
Reports to: Minot Area Community Foundation Board of Directors
Wage and Hour Status: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 depending on experience / Exempt
Mission of the Position: To provide leadership in identifying and assisting in vision, direction, and foster development opportunities to enhance the actions that meet the mission and vision of the Minot Area Community Foundation (MACF) as directed and approved by the MACF Board of Directors. Continue to build new and current relationships across diverse groups that propel actions that enhance the quality of life in our community.
Position Purpose:
- Provide visionary leadership to the MACF.
- Developing the strategic planning process and leading the achievement of goals, assessment of outcomes and evaluation of initiatives promoting and enhancing broad based philanthropic support of the Foundation.
- Engaging donors and connecting them to opportunities to improve the quality of life in our community.
- Works with Board of Directors to vet grant making opportunities and develops and implements follow up plans gaging the impact delivered to the community.
- Leading collaborative efforts with key individuals, nonprofits and other organizations that further the mission of the Foundation.
- Working with the MACF Finance & Investment Committee, fund managers and staff to ensure responsible asset management and financial administration strategies and practices are utilized by the Foundation.
- Leading, managing and motivating staff to realize goals and mission of the Foundation.
- Engaging and fostering effective board relationships, so as to meet the mission of the organization.
- Adherence to the highest ethical standards.
- Works to establish new relationships with prospective fund participants to grow the foundation and the work it accomplishes.
Minimum Requirements:
- Strong knowledge of nonprofit principles, practices and standards to include finance, budgeting, human resource development, legal processes, marketing and other general business practice.
- Bachelor’s degree (BA); or ten years of collaborative leadership experience in a nonprofit or business setting is preferred.
- Ability to create a strategic vision and implement it into an operational model.
- Ability to work proactively and take initiative to assure successful outcomes.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate with others to prioritize and address community needs.
- Remains constantly current in the field at the local and national level regarding laws and regulations of foundation work.

- Engages with grantees, other grant-makers and other nonprofits to identify opportunities for collaboration that benefit the community and specifically the nonprofit sector and follow up to track impact and effectiveness.
- Completes other duties as assigned.
Additional Requirements: The essential functions of the job generally require the employee to also complete the following:
- Ability to regularly sit for lengthy periods and to reach with hands and arms.
- Manual dexterity for fingers and hands as well as hand-eye coordination.
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
