2020 Highlights
The Minot Area Community Foundation manages more than 100 charitable funds created by generous donors. Some have very specific purposes. Others provide resources to address our community's greatest needs.
New funds created in 2020 include:
- Edna Solheim Endowment Fund
- Jason & Dusty Zimmerman Endowment Fund
- Chad & Kirsten Wolsky Endowment Fund
- Maynard Sandberg Endowment Fund
- Fort Berthold Indian Reservation Scholarship Fund
- Prairie Grit Adaptive Sports Endowment Fund
- Kent & Chelsea Kirkhammer Endowment Fund
COVID-19 Disaster Response & Recovery Fund
In March of 2020 MACF activated its COVID-19 Disaster Response & Recovery Fund to accept charitable donations to support nonprofits affected by disruptions due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Distributions from the COVID-19 Fund:
- $32,650 to 8 area non-profits
- $56,550 in meal enhancement grants
- $10,465 in additional soup kitchen & food pantry support
Emily Mackner joins Board of Directors
MACF is pleased to announce Emily Mackner has joined its Board of Directors.
Emily was born and raised right here in Minot. After attending high school at Minot High, Emily left for 8 years and then returned home to join the family business, Tollefson's Retail Group DBA Slumberland Furniture, Carpet Garage and Tollefson's Carpetland.
Emily is married to John and they have 2 daughters, Ella and Mara. They love spending time as a family creating memories and being on the go! They love taking advantage of all Minot has to offer including parks, the zoo, Magic City Discovery Center, Taube Museum and sporting events. They also like to travel and spend time at Lake Metigoshe.
Emily says she's "passionate about providing opportunities and building upon the amazing community that we live and work in. Our communtiy has so much to offer and I'm proud to live here. I recognize the importance and impact that we as a board are responsible for and I don't take it lightly. My hope is that my passion and skill set is an asset to this amazing group that I get to sit alongside."
